if/when you start a build on a CJ8 - please email me and let me know so I can follow. I love the old Scramblers. As for my CJ-7, I spent the winter tinkering - ripped out the old engine, bought a crate motor from Jegs (260 HP/350 torque - much more appropriate for the rig), bent back and re-welded the motor mounts, wasn't happy with the finished result nor did I like the cross-member so decided to cut it all out and currently in the process of welding in Novak Chevy 350 mounts (Lesson learned - should have started with them 10 years ago)

Got rid of the Holley TBI fuel injection. Read a lot about carbs and decided to go old school and installed a quadrajet. After a bunch or research, the name that kept coming up was Sean at SEAN MURPHY INDUCTION. He rebuilt me what the engine needed. Obviously, haven't fired the jeep up yet - but counting the days

Meanwhile have taken all the years of jeep 'experiments/experiences' and am trying to make sure I prepare my 13 JKUR 10a right. First and foremost winch - and what I love about the 10a's bumper is how low and (out of the way of airflow for the radiator) the winch sits. Weight is a huge concern and the synthetic line version is 15 lbs lighter than the steel cable one.

Good choice on the motor and carb. I've had several people tell me that I need to swap out my 305 and q-jet for a strong 350 and EFI. They're just arm chair wheelers though for the most part. The Q-jet is simple and reliable, and the 305 has enough power and torque to do Jeep things without twisting off axles. I find the parts that stay reliable the longest are OEMt's what I stay with. I like the color also. My Jeeps are both green as well!

Couldn't agree more. A stock 305 or factory built mild 350 is more than enough hp/torque. I violated "Simple and reliable" and paid the price with missed expeditions and lost time.

Like your choice of jeeps. My JKUR will remain very close to stock as well.
