95 Montero LS w/ manual trans - Purchasing Advice

After doing some research, I'm swaying in the direction of 32/11.5 - Cooper AT3's. They've been compared to the BF's and seem to be spoken highly of...price is a bit lower, and perform well on-road which is what I'll primarily need them for at first.

Maybe a set of BFG's will make their way onto the truck as a second set later on.

Could anyone tell me how upping the tire size will effect the ride of the truck on the stock suspension? Will the truck become sluggish, need a change in gearing, or anything like that? Will there be a major change in fuel consumption? Rubbing?

Depends on what you are looking out of it. If you keep the weight down then it won't feel too sluggish compared to a stock Montero. You can find out what gearing you have in it with the model placard in the engine bay. I think you might have the 4.88 gears from the factory. Rubbing shouldn't be an issue, but you might be close with the 32s since you have the ~40mm lower body.

The work so far....rear door handle and driver mirror have been replaced, a new JVC receiver was installed, and she's gotten some new shoes - Cooper Discoverer AT/3's.

I've also Plasti Dipped the door and windshield trim which had been deteriorated, dried, and destroyed over the years....oh and one of the previous owners had colored back in with a black sharpie. I'll post pics later for that.
