Totally cool! I've seen that somewhere else, but enjoyed watching again. Thanks for posting it. I wonder: can this stove be refilled and reused? Is the fiberglass eventually consumed, so that it needs replacing?

I love the razor-blade-in-the-book thing. Great idea for cutting. That would be pretty cool to do for a survival kit. My son will be making some of these over the holidays.

What is the "Heat"? Is it just white gas like Coleman fluid?

Re-fill and re-use indefinately. The fiber glass just acts as a wick. I've made a version of this stove w/o the fiberglass. I also used a tek screw for the fill hole. It fills faster and you close the hole with the screw when your done.
You can also make different sizes by using 5.5 oz fruit juice cans, Fosters "oil" cans, or tall boys.

The fruit juice size can will boil water in a Sierra cup in a few minutes.

NO..don't use white gas in one of these! They're designed for slower burning alcohol as the fuel source (Heat is basically alcohol).

No problem. Thanks for the info!

What kind of altitude will this fuel boil water in?

I know the isobutane stoves have some issues at high altitude, but does the alcohol (Heat) stove have similar issues? If so, what altitude would they work up to?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Hurmmm???
alcohol doesn't burn very hot at low altitude, I'm not sure how altitude affects it.

Google is your friend.

LOL. We just tried alcohol and it doesn't work very well at all. Looking on Google for "Heat" now.
