Adding Cruise Control to a Chev/GMC Van

I don't know if you van is ride by wire or not. For my 2006 which isn't, all I had to do was add the servo unit behind the steering fluid container , and cable to the throttle body.

and then I had to switch the steering column switch (wiper, blinkers, lights, etc..) to one with the cruise control

Then id didn't work, not sure why... I pulled fuses to check them out they were all fine. I went on a longer test drive and it all started to work after a few miles.
I didn't have to reprogram anything I suspect I needed a longer drive maybe for the computer to adjust to the new system or something I just don't know.
But it has been working flawlessly now.
Keep in mind my 2006 was pre-wired for the cruise - I had a plug dangling behind the steering fluid reservoir and I had the 4 pin connector in the steering column.
If you have a ride by wire van, it could be even easier, maybe all you need is the steering column switch similar to the silverado.

@TeleSteve Would you remember what had to be flashed? The PCM, BCM, or ECU?
Upgraded the steering wheel on my 2013 Express and my dealer is saying they don't know what to do.

They flash the BCM. They need to call GM and list the part numbers of what is changed. Then GM will send them a reflash.

I added a steering wheel with the cruise control buttons, and took my van to the dealer to get the cruise control installed on a Saturday morning. My service advisor told me that GM will not install cruise control as an aftermarket add-on because there is no associated part, but I left my van there because they need to order wheel speed sensors for an unrelated issue. So then I did a little digging and found the updated instructions for how to get GM to flash the BCM to get the cruise control working. I assumed there was a cruise control module that needed to be installed, but it can apparently be done with a software update if you add the steering wheel with the cruise control buttons. I have Monday off, so I'm taking a printout of the service bulletin linked below with part numbers I borrowed from a thread in a Chevrolet forum. (Edit: looks like those part numbers came from @jamesm113, who also posted in this thread two posts up from my post. Thanks for the legwork, James! I'll update this post with how things turn out for me!)

My local dealer told me that they will only flash the cruise control update if I buy a kit, and that kit costs $1,600, which seems a bit absurd if I already have the parts installed. The guy I have been dealing with initially told me it wasn't possible to install cruise control through GM, then quoted me the $1,600 after I dropped off the service bulletin, so I'm going to call some other dealers in the area to see if I can find someone who is a brighter bulb.

Called another dealer before Thanksgiving, and the service advisor said they would research and call me back, but then he never called back.
There was a private mechanic who specializes in reprogramming who confirmed I had all the parts installed, but said I need a compatible instrument panel (with the cruise control indicator light), and he said Thursday that he would put together a proposal for me to get the reprogramming and panel needed. Unlike the dealers, he seemed interested in figuring it out and I like to support a small business guy, so hopefully that one works out.
