AEV Brute Double Cab

Doesnt the length of this things kills the whole purpose of the "Jeep"?

With these parameters it might be as well as H3SUT(or similar)....

I agree, this thing looks huge, totally defeats the purpose of what a Jeep was designed for. If I want a truck I will just go buy one.

Agreed. I thought it looked huge, too. Then I looked at the specs. It's about the same size as a double cab tacoma.

heh, I read it as an American vehicle....oh well.:sombrero:

LOL, I was refering to myself. Avis gave me an H3 once as a rental. I couldn't even get in it. Well, I got in it, but I couldn't put it drive, move my legs, or turn the steering wheel. I was touching on all 5 corners.

I love my Tacoma but I think the AEV Brute DC is a winner also; nothing new coming out these days comes close to the rugged style and utility that the crew from Missoula has captured here. AEV quality and attention to detail is outstanding. If it had a diesel in it too... break out the smelling salts.

Black zj . This what bugs me about the pickup market . Rumor and more Rumors as to when a certain car mfg. is going to come out with a diesel . Nissan is working with cummins , latest rumor . Somebody needs to import diesel engine meant for the european market and have a few ship here . For us who live in the midwest or east coast are at disadvantage when to finding someone who does installs or mods . The cost of the swaps should not be out of most people price range , too .

Yeah, I think the company who develops an easy diesel swap/setup will win biggest.

Kenny from River Raider was out of town doing a diesel instal when I was there getting my skids...

"River Raider Off Road is thrilled to announce that we now have available for pre-order the Cummins 4BT Diesel conversion kit for JK Wranglers! This exciting conversion kit is something that many of us have been dreaming about for quite some time.We think many Jeep Owners will be blown away by the performance, drivability and economy of this conversion."

I think it is a SEMA release.

There's not much argument about how cool this set-up is. Before now, something like would have been all but un-drivable w/o a Hemi conversion, but with the new V6 and enough gear, it might actually work. The European market diesel would be even better. Perhaps the ultimate starting point would be a J8 frame with the 200PS diesel. With deep enough pockets, I'm sure Dave would make that happen for you.
To me, the sad part is that Chrysler could have built that Jeep for almost the same money as a respective JK Unlimited. AEV will have to get at least 50k for a converted vehicle. Early talk sais there won't be a kit, but I am hopeful that AEV will at least sell the cab close-in parts.
Sure there are more economical answers, and in tyhe end, sitting home watching the Travel Channel while leafing old National Geographics is probably cheapest of all, but cheapest isn't what its all about. I can't wait to fondle one of these in person.

I wonder if AEV is delaying the start of production to mid-2012 so they can incorporate the VM Motori V6 diesel. This 3.0L motor produces 400 ft-lbs of torque. Chrysler is planning to put this diesel under the hood of the Grand Cherokee for the 2013 model year, and the EPA certification will need to be complete about mid-2012!
If they're bringing that engine, are they also bringing the Massif?

The Massif would be a fine expedition platform and would work great for me...

As good as a 4bt is, I don't think it is the right motor for a modern vehicle. Too rough, too big, too loud and too slow for a JK. That's just my opinion.

Something like this needs a modern diesel.

While I don't want to be negative about any diesel options for the JK, I don't actually think this is a good thing to have.
Many Americans think of diesel as loud, smelly, sluggish and full of vibration - and that is exactly what the 4BT is. Lets face it, that thing was designed in the dinosaur age for BIG trucks, and it has the performance to match.
(I know it's a workhorse and has great reliability, etc.)

It's the year 2011 - we want better.

Go down to your local VW dealer and drive a newish diesel sedan - a new, sophisticated diesel - it's smooth, quiet, extremely efficient and has gobs and gobs of torque to drive away in any gear.
That's exactly what the 3.0 VM/Motori diesel is, and it's coming in 2013 to the GC.
That's the diesel we want in the Wrangler.

The rumors I've heard say it's already passed all EPA / Govt. certification.
