All-Pro Offroad's Billy the 4Runner! Help us build it!

Would be OK for an off road beater, but not for this truck. They already decided on a 3.4 anyway.
See what I get for skipping over a few posts... 3.4 will be cool in it. I keep thinking about a 5VZ swap every time my Diesel build gives me headaches.

Cheers

So whatever happened with this?
Still in the works but we have been concentrating on getting our FJ Cruiser ready for the Summit next week. I have been stockpiling parts away for the build though. We are going to be doing a 3.4L engine swap with auto trans to replace the 22re/auto. This will make it much more enjoyable to drive on longer trips and should have ample power to carry heavier loads. I already have the engine and the wiring harness should be here next week. The plan is to make it a very capable trail/exploration rig while keeping it as original looking as possible. It will get lockers and a low gear set for the TCase as well as All-Pro suspension and armor.

Good day all. Any updates on this build? Awesome platform. The 3.4 swap seems to very popular and a great solution for extra horsepower for the 4Runner.

Have you given any thought to an auxiliary gas tank? You mentioned in post #34 about 'longer trips' and an auxiliary gas would be a nice edition.

And with an auxiliary gas tank, the spare tire would need to be relocated somewhere. How about some kind of swing out rear tire carrier? Toyota experimented with this on the gen2 4Runners. There are also several clean, factory looking after market rear bumpers with the swing out tire carrier.

Do you have a tire/wheel combo in mind as well as what kind of lift?

Looking forward to watching this build develop. Thanks again! :)
