Could you just not put the the bottom section and use a different door for the top section in order to keep your tailgate? I want to keep mine too!

Is there a standard location that the backup camera gets moved to on the canopy camper? Is the stock camera removed from the tailgate? Or would one have to get an aftermarket camera and tie it into the wiring harness?

If you wanted to maintain a backup camera you would need to go aftermarket since removing the tailgate (which includes the OEM camera) is mandatory for install.

Thanks - I realize removing the tailgate is mandatory, I was just curious if anyone had removed the OEM camera and remounted on a camper shell and/or done a new camera tied into the wiring harness. I'll keep poking about..
