Another Jerry Can thread

Quick question.... I am mounting 4 Jerry Can's on a rack inside a camper shell. Have the rack build now just need to get some cans. Ideally I would love to do 4 MFCs, however I'm not driving to Canada for them... so I'm down to the Blitz Enviro-Flo Metal Plus (http://www.blitzusa.com/products/fuel/Containment/5GMEF.html and real world photo here: http://lh6.ggpht.com/-O-JiUaCoK7U/TvodtyoY7aI/AAAAAAAAFvI/IL4THMlVxwU/w800/IMG_1094.jpg) or the Germany surplus ones. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jerry-Gas-Diesel-Can-20L-Steel-German-Military-NATO-/280726727125). I'm leaning towards the Blitz just because they are cheaper by $10 a can and I don't ever plan on pouring them so I would be using a safety siphon. I have a couple of the cheap Scepter ones (http://www.amazon.com/Scepter-Corporation-5Gal-Carb-Milit/dp/B005GB3UDW) and they are thin and basically suck... So I'm in between the Blitz or German ones. Any advice? Do the Blitz ones leak if I always have the metal bung transport lid on? I wouldn't think so.

Thanks in advance and sorry for another jerry can thread.

After some research and seeing the thread on here about go4hero.com, I think I'm going stay away. They seem pretty trashed. Thank you for the heads up though!

I hate hate hate the Blitz cans. Hate. To get the lid tight enough that it won't leak, you have to crank the lid down with a tool, as hard as you can, which makes getting it back open a bear. The gasket sticks to the can instead of coming off with the lid, which makes threading the lid back on a pain in the ***. IMO, there is nothing to like about the Blitz cans other than the fact that you can get them at the hardware store.

Wedco (NATO) cans and Scepter cans are so many miles superior, you can't even believe it. I recently switched to using all Scepter cans, and they're fantastic. Zero leaks, tough as hell, and they're dirt cheap. Every review I've found of the Wedco/NATO cans (other than the review on here regarding the water cans) indicates they're just as excellent.

This "German"(http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jerry-Gas-Di...-/280726727125). looks identical to Chinese made ones you can get 4 with one pour spout for $120 here http://www.cheaperthandirt.net/ZBQ1425-1.html , so I wouldn't waste my money. the Chinese ones are of decent quality and should work for what you are doing.

A buddy of mine has the Cheaper than dirt ones and they are pretty bad quality. Welds are horrible and very thin. The german one on ebay gets decent reviews so thats why I was thinking of it. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. Did you have the metal plus ones? I heard they seal much better with the included metal storage bung lid.

What Scepter ones did you switch to? The MFC or the consumer CARB ones?

My Blitz cans are pre-CARB, so they're these ones, with the metal storage lid. They seal just fine, but you've gotta crank the bejesus out of them to do it.

I've switched to MFCs, which I know are difficult to get these days. I'm in no way recommending this, but apparently with a couple of Viton o-rings, you can use MWCs for fuel just fine, assuming you label them properly and all. I'm guessing it's illegal, but what isn't? Forgive me for linking to the god-awful hell that is ARFCOM, but here's a thread detailing it: le click.

I bought some Chinese ones locally, some of the welds inside the can were already showing signs of rust, they were also painted inside and didn't have a coating like the NATO cans. They also use a much thinner wall steel, I ordered 6 of the German NATO cans and will post up some pics when they get here..

Did you order them on that ebay store? I've very curious as to their quality.

Interesting. Thanks for the idea. Not sure if I'm willing to take the chance to see if the plastics are the same over the years between the MWC and the MFC. Who thought this would be so difficult. They are going to be tightly secured in a rack inside a camper shell so I don't need them to be super durable. I just don't want them to leak off road.
