Started reading your adventures (from start) and really enjoy the simplistic, raw nature of your travels. Very fascinating journey.

Thank you, for taking the time to share.

Brian.

We've just entered Mongolia! Whoooohoooo would ever thought we would be driving in this desolate country? 2 times larger than Turkey with only 3 million inhabitants it ranks amoung the least populated areas on earth. With only a few asphalted roads crossing, it is a true 4x4 off roaders country. We are blown away in our first week.

The drone is also performing flawlessly!

Hello everyone, it has been a while. Sorry to keep you all waiting ;-)

We are currently in Kyrgyzstan, taking the interior of the Land Cruiser out again to take care of some rust issues and maybe more.

This made me think back to the full on restoration we did nine years ago.

I have re-read part of this thread, and it sure does read weird with all those images missing. But fear no more. Karin-Marijke has translated the whole emotional and energy draining rebuild in Bolivia in 2010.

Meanwhile there are the other parts ready for you all to read.

It might be a bit overwhelming to dump all 3 stories in here at once, but I forgot to drip you the content here. So forgive my ignorance of good marketing.

Wishing you all a good weekend. Enjoy the stories.

But be warned.... They are long form... and stressfull

Greetings all from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where we recently ran into Mark and Sue from the UK on their way to Japan for the Rugby World Cup. I know that is not your cup of tea ;-) but anyways, their story was too good not to share with all of you.

So here you go:

So here we are again.... this time we are in Tajikistan, exploring the great Pamir mountains. What they call the roof of the world. Have any of you ever read The Great Game?

Anyways, here is the latest blog update from the magnificent mountains.

Mark our words, this region will explode in popularity the coming years. It is a paradise for off roading and overlanding, extreme or gentle, your choice.

Have a nice weekend you all!

The choice of vehicle was not between a Land Rover or a Land Cruiser, but rather a Land Rover or none at all. As I have told my Land Cruiser owning friends: if we simply wanted to ‘get’ to Australia, we would have taken a plane.

An excerpt from the latest interview Karin-Marijke had with fellow overlanders we met on our trip. They are in India on their way to meet Tim Slessor who wrote First Overland about the first London-Singapore journey by car, in the 1950s by young men from England in Land Rovers.

How do you deal with fears on an overland journey? What are your possible fears before starting out, such fear of wild camping? These were subjects of interesting conversation we had with fellow overlanders Mijke and Dennis, who were on a 6-month trip from the Netherlands to Mongolia/Central Asia and back.

To our surprise, this came up on the radar as well. Can it get any better? You guys in the US are well taken care of.

Heya guys,

We've had some great interesting talks going on lately:

A typical campfire discussion: Land Rover vs Land Cruiser. The pros and cons, jokes about the other and the passion for your own.

Karin-Marijke emailed some of our overlanding friends and I posted on two Facebook groups for input. 19 people responded, 1 having traveled with a Land Rover as well as a Land Cruiser. The result: 10 Land Rover & 10 Land Cruiser aficiados.

This one is in honor of the Land Rover:

So.... We've heard what the Land Rover peeps had to say...

Now let's give the stage to the Land Cruiser overlanders to share their motivation for their overland rig. To sort of gap the bridge between Land Rover and Land Cruiser, we’ll start with Belinda who with here husband Markus did two long overland journeys: one in a Land Rover and one in a Land Cruiser.
Have fun!
