Anyone done a chevy van 4x4 conversion?

Hey guys, I just traded for a 72 Mitchell motorhome based on a 1 ton chevy van. I'd like to do a 4x4 conversion on it using a 700r4/np241 with a ford dana 44 in the front. I won't be doing anything extreme just mud, sand and snow. It's a single wheel and only about 19 ft long so I think I can get by fine with a d44 instead of a d60. Is anyone aware of another project like this I can use for reference?

Seen one on the road the other day. Chevy with a quigley badge on the fender. Sfa and some thick springs. looked good, I am guessing 33" tires.

I have every thing from a 1979 G-30 One Ton Pathfinder van that I parted out.
I was going to install it in another van but I just sold the van tonight and the guy want to restore it to stock condition not 4x4. The parts will fit any 1971-1982 GM van 10-20-30... They also will fit 1983-1995 but the front frame rails changed so they would have to be fabricated to work..

Dana 44 Front 4.10 gears
GM Rear Axle with a Gov Lock
NP 205 Transfer case and Turbo 350 Adapter
Front Frame Insert with Spring Mounts (drilled out and ready to install)
4 Leaf Springs( could stand bushings or to be rebuilt to be perfect)
Engine Cross Member
Drive shafts and a Bunch of little parts.

Shipping might be a bunch but you can have it all for $800 plus any information I have
Blueprints, Measurements, Pictures and such. I did one of these before this way and it worked well.

The Boulder stuff is nice from what I have seen.

You can also check with Gordon at Pathfinder. He sells parts for Pathfinder vans and there are many links on his page so look around and you can find out more about converting an older GM van, here are a few.

If I was closer I'd be all over it. I'm flipping a srw gm d60 right now, bummer. That page on pathfinder is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for posting it. I'll put up some of the motorhome when I have time at home.

So after reading the pathfinder site I'm starting to think about just keeping my Dana 60 and picking up a TH400/NP205 combo and going that route, would be cheaper for me and I'd never have to worry about breaking anything. Now to find out what the gear ratio is in the HO52 rear diff. I'd also love to see any documents you have on the conversion, would you be able to scan and email them to me?

Hey Gvan...I know it's been a while but I would like to talk to you about these parts. Any chance you still have them?

Hello. I'm new to this forum but been working on Pathfinder vans for 20 years and have done alot of conversions. IF I can help let me know. Here is my latest project. It was a G30 that I went to Las Vegas and bought and brought back to Indiana. It was originally a 2wd and I converted it over to a 4x4 using original pathfinder parts. It now has an nv4500 manual trans in front of an Atlas 2 transfer case. It has a Ramjet 350 crate engine. I have custom built a full length aluminum rack to go on the top of the van.

I have lots more pictures if anyone wants to see them.
