ARB side bars and steps for 80?

Does ARB still sell the side bar/step combo for the 80 series in the US? I know SOCal has them but I haven't seen them anywhere for sale lately. I know the steps don't work well as sliders, and thats fine, I don't really need sliders as much as I'd like to have an easier way to reach the roof basket and an additional jacking point.

Are they strong enough to jack on? I understand they are not particularly good sliders and so on the flip side I would have guessed that not being strong enough for that would mean they probably would flex too much to support using a Hi-Lift under them, too. Just wondering aloud here. I've always sort of assumed that they were just really strong steps.

I was told that they are not sold in the USA anymore. Probably not enough demand to import them. Mine are old and modified versions that are welded to Slee sliders instead of the ARB side steps. I believe the previous owner even stepped up the wall thickness on the the tube too. If you look at mine they aren't the regular ARB 2 bend. I found mine used on Mud about a year ago. I jumped on them when i had the chance. I wanted our rig to appear traditional overland rig found down under. Other than appearance, they're pretty useless. Great for brush and that's about it.

I had a set on my old FJ 60 and loved them. I added an extra bar to them right about at the pinch weld at the rocker panels. They have survived many trips to Moab.

A buddy of mine has the truck now, so I see it all the time.

Yeah, I thought I had heard that they were no longer brought into the US. On ARB USA site, they do have them listed though, thus my confusion. Regarding jacking, I would hope that they would be strong enough but if that isn't the case, maybe I need to look elsewhere. As far as the fender bar is concerned, my biggest issue I deal with is brush and thick vegetation and I think it would add an extra amount of deflection. Hopefully Kurt can chime in on here. Thanks for the responses guys.

You've clearly never run cattle in Oz... I tell ya, they work great for nudging cattle to the side. adn they kept the fenders pretty clean on all our 70ser down there too. They're far more than cosmetic. Ours were ARB, but as I understand they were an older slightly burlier version version that was offered ONLY in OZ for all the farm trucks.

My suggestion would be to get the sliders of your choice and then have someone fab up some fender bars to your liking. I think they're great and when I get whatever front bumper I decide on I'll be adding some.
