Hey All,

Well I have been meaning to post up for a long time now and really just havn't had the time. A friend and I are about to head north via ice roads from Northern Alberta Canada, to the Arctic Ocean and Tuktoyaktuk. Round trip we are looking at about 9000km in 2 weeks. I will update this post with a bit more info as I have time but for now I appoligize for sending you all to JK-Forum

We will be taking my buddies 09 JK outfitted with a Gobi rack and a ton of gear.

Should have bit of time this weekend to update some progress and detail the trip for you all.

Ok, I realize I have had no time to update this as I had hoped to.

Although my partner in crime on this adventure has started a few things, While I have been busy plan food and gear, he was tasked with tracking and navigation.

Check out the blog, we will also be carrying a SPOT and should be updating both regularly.

We leave Friday Febuary 19th and hope to return around the 4th of March.

Awesome Trip!

Glad to see you guys got back home OK. By the looks of the SPOT map, you probably stopped at Timmy's this morning in Slave Lake? :coffeedrink:

We completed much of this trip in 2007. Let us know how we can help.

After the trip, we found that a lot of time could have been saved in some areas of prep and other items should have been focused on much more.

Most importantly, make sure you have some way to set-up a service tent if you have a vehicle breakdown. The wind is deadly, so being able to set-up a quick tarp, etc. around changing a tire, etc. will be key. Don't spend too much time on "off-road" mods, but spend lots of time on organization and cold-weather vehicle and personnel prep.

Here is the article from our Arctic Ocean trip:

I'm not sure how I missed this one for so long, but thanks for sharing it!

You've done an amazing job of capturing the feel of AK in pics on your blog. Nicely done ... man I am craving those big open spaces :)
