Are original M416 wheels split rims?

No.

And as a warning, try not to utter the words "split rims". Tire shops will go berserk and kick you out because everybody just knows that "slit rims" are certain death to work on. The M101 "safety rings" are not "split rims" and the HMMWV "two piece rims" are not "split rims". Different animals altogether, but try explaining that to a tire shop.

Thanks haus. My conversation with the tire shop is why I asked. One said no worries, the other said no way, go figure... And I can't check myself because I'm not near home.

Split rims aren't bad if you know what you're doing, I just don't have time to do it myself.

I'm not familiar with safety rings, is the village idiot at the tire shop not going to know what to do because the wheels aren't typical?

Thanks again.
