Armored Land Rover

My first thought is it looked like what the Brits used in Northern Ireland back in the day. All the commonwealth countries use rover variants for their 'light' personnel vehicles, even the neighbors to the north. .

Canada uses Mercedes G-wagons and Silverados. We used ILTIS before that. The only mil spec Rovers here are owned and operated by British forces training at CFB Suffield. Their surplus stuff comes up at auction here quite often. The Germans used to train here too but they finished their contract at CFB Shilo and took all their MOGs with them.

A site on the Internet stated that Israel just bought $22Mil. worth from Aerotech. They are modified in Georgia.

These trucks are modified by MDT in Auburn Alabama. Last fall I bought five brand new take-off Wolf wheels mounted with 7.50x16 Goodyear G90 tires for my ex-MOD 110. Paid $700 for all; Iwas happy.

Anyone see the mistake??

It's a Toyota Land Cruiser.

It also looks more like bullet penetration.

IMO If it was one of the ULAV it would not stand up to a IED very well.

I'm interested to know why do you think not, given that they say it's designed to provide "limited perimeter protection" against IEDs?

It's the nature of IEDs that they are extremely variable, of course...

(The military terminology slays me: A "Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device" is such a neat way of saying "car bomb").

Back in the day when I was a newspaper photog I shot this in a July 4th parade in Kensington, MD. I have had this photo on an old computer for years and just got around to cleaning off the old one. Never got to talk to the people so I know nothing about or where it is now. This was probably 8-9 years ago.
