In November of '09, I was in Melbourne for a bit over 2 weeks on a work trip. There's been a few places in the world where as soon as I've stepped off the plane, I feel at home. Melbourne was one of them. Driving on the left was a trick the first few hours but by the last few days of the trip, I was ready to ask for a transfer and tell my wife to pack up the kids and get on a plane.

I put almost 2000 clicks on the rental car while I was there just driving around. Over the weekend, I headed south as one of my co-workers said there was a rainforest walk I should go check out. So I did. Along the forest floor, they had constructed realistic, life size dinosaurs. Coolest thing ever. I shot a bunch of goofy video on my iPhone and sent it back to my daughters who loved it. Yep, just giving the little velociraptor and scratch behind the ears.

To get back to Melbourne, I drove the Great Ocean Road back north. Epic epic drive. Checked out Bells and made a stop in Torquay to try and sneak in a surf. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating so, I'll just have to go back. ;)

Unbelievably beautiful country. Super friendly locals. By the time I left, I had the right hand drive down pretty well. Thank god I didn't rent a manual...

I laughed outloud at the Mushroom one that Vency posted.....:wings: It could be a Viagra ad for trucks or outdoors

Thanks

I like this one. Shows what these places can be like during the day.

Thanks. It was totally insane there that day. I was there during the Australian Open and the Japanese absolutely love Tiger Woods. I parked the car and started walking and it was bus after bus after bus. I love the Japanese and their culture and I was there for hours just people watching.

Besides the buses unloading every few minutes, the choppers were non-stop. Just a continuous cycle of land, unload, load, take-off. There must have been a dozen choppers in rotation.

The previous 2 photos in the post were taken about 10 miles south of the Apostles and there was no one there. Just a few clicks after leaving the Apostles, the Great Ocean Road was completely empty. Had I not been along the ocean, and the landscape been so green, I would have totally expected Mad Max to be screaming along the highway. :sombrero:
