I'd love to go....but alas, I have a 'crawling trip scheduled for the same day (upper ajax, in FJ). There is a "new guy" in the neighborhood who has never been to FJ....so 'crawlin we will go.....

Have fun!

Potato Patch is on 89a, at the top of Mingus Mountain.

Map attached :)

Being as I'm coming from Flagstaff... what would be the best route to take to get to Potato Patch? Would it be better for me to take I-17 and meet you guys at the coffee shop?

It's much faster for you to take Hwy 260 in Camp Verde west thru Cottonwood to Jerome, then up to the top of Mingus on Hwy 89A.

FYI: If you don't have sliders there is a good chance you will take some rocker panel damage in a stock Trooper. This is definately a much harder trail than Broken Arrow. The attached pic is in the center of the rocky section with the hardest obsticals behind me (I was coming upstream - this trip will be going down...)

Thanks for the info. And thanks for the warning as well. I wouldn't say my trooper is totally stock. Although it's not super built either. I have about a 2" lift from the OME springs and torsion bar lift. I have new Rancho RS5000 shocks all the way around and 265/75/R16 Yokahama Geolander ATIIs. This afternoon when I get off work, I plan to use my Dremel tool and cut off all four of my mud flaps. They were getting a little hammered when I did some crawling at Broken Arrow. I'm not terribly worried about a little body damage if it happens.

FWIW, I pre- ran this last weekend for a Copper State Cruisers run here on the 21st. I went from PP to to the end of the difficult section and then back up. I encountered alot of up traffic when I was going down and no down traffic when I came up.

Scott, I'll see ya at the start of the rocky section...I'll be in the beater. Haven't aired it up since I came down in March, so it's ready to go.

When do you plan on departing from Potato Patch?
