Backseat sunroof

What's the deal with the sunroof being in the back seat of the older generation Montero? They looks like great vehicles and are cheap to buy but that sunroof!

Starts just slightly ahead of the driver headrest and goes into the back seat.

What about the sunroof? I believe it was the largest sunroof used than any other cars at that time.

But it is over the wrong seats! For the third gen they moved it up front. I wonder what the design reason behind that was.

I think I've seen those on school buses, so the kids can get out if it tips over.

Or maybe it's so back seat passengers that have had a little too much can stand up and shout at passers by.

Yes, that's the main thing I miss about my 97 SR which I got rid of for a 98 LS.
