Bad Experience with OR-Fab Products and Customer Service

Bummer, Jerry. Glad you got a little money back for the problem.

FWIW, I looked at OR-Fab in 2008 when I was shopping for bumpers for my old JK and got steered away by the manager of a large retail chain. He warned me about rust and sloppy manufacture.
I ended up with Rugged Ridge --- a company one town away with a factory in China. It never rusted at all...

Thanks Hilldweller! My front bumper is a Barricade; ChiCom-made and sold through Extreme Terrain. No rust on it either and it was a great price. Ancient Chinese secret??
A few folks also mentioned the Gobi finish and I'd like to echo that as well. I have the Gobi Stealth on my Jeep and use it all the time to haul the canoe and building materials like lumber, pipe, fencing, etc. Besides a few gouges/scratches on the crossbars from the loads sliding off/on, not a spot of rust anywhere. Thank goodness a professional and durable finish is not an unrealistic task for some companies.

I had a similar issue with a Olympic rock slider on my LJ. The passenger side fit was spot on, while the drivers would not fit evenly at all!
They had a "Oh well" attitude, and never resolved anything. I ended up cutting and rewelding it, to make everything line up.

Buyer beware if your considering anything Olympic!!!

Quick Update: It has been 28 days now since I first contacted OR-FAB about the issue and 8 days since the partial refund check was allegedly mailed. The check has yet to arrive and I am waiting on a response from Benjamin as to it's whereabouts.

Finally!! After 29 days, numerous phone calls/emails, and outside help from the good folks at Quadratec the partial refund check of $200 has arrived. This has honestly been one of the worst customer service experiences I've been involved in and OR-FAB will never get my business again. I am grateful that they did the right thing in the long run, but trying to get resolution for almost a month is not OK.

some thoughts:

never underestimate the power of the pen. writing concerns to multiple recipients, and letting everyone know who has a copy, is a great way to get results.

don't waste time with the hired help; aim for management.

two to five per cent of customers can eat up ninety percent of a merchant's time. everyone who buys something does not necessarily create a good transaction for the merchant.
