Baja 540 - map loading trouble?

I have a Baja 540, it frustrates me. I have MapCreate 7, I created a map with corridors in the region I want. It's 79mb in size. I have it loaded to my registered SD card, using my Lowrance card reader. I can browse the file with the card in the Baja 540 unit, but I can't figure out how to "load" it into the units memory.

Is there a simple way to do this? I went through every on screen menu option that I could find and saw nothing likely, other than one prompt 'Transfer Information" that only let me select .ucr files, not the .lci files the MapCreate software creates.

Help!

Wish i could help man. I just use the pre-loaded cards from LEI. Im on a Mac so it's much easier for me. Good luck man.

You dont "load it" in the GPS. If it was stored on the SD card in the correct format, the GPS will access it automatically as needed after it powers on.

I do recall that on the older units (like mine) the file size was unfortunately limited to abt 50MB per file, so you had to create more than one map. Whie inconvenient, it worked without any problems or additional steps. I don't recall that being documented anywhere by the mfg, just users.

Hope this helps.

That is helpful. I had noticed the undocumented file size limitation previously. For my unit, it seems to be 100mb.

But here is a question, can I have more than one file on the card at any given time? Currently, I am in Southern California, but the vehicle is headed towards Sedona for an off roading trip, so I have a map for both loaded on the card. Do I need to delete the SoCal map file so that the unit can only access the Arizonia map?

Yes - I am running several smaller files concurrently since I can't load a very large file. No difference in setup - just add the map files to the registered card.
