The Mastercraft Trophy-Truck team with Robby Pierce and Bill Lawrence

I believe they won the Baja1000 this year in the Pro-Truck class and then converted it to a Trophy Truck for this season

I am thinking that come June and the 500 there will be a few people from the expedition portal will be looking for radios to follow the race on. (Myself included) Would you mind giving me some info on them? What brand? Where to buy? Etc.

My personal opinion: If its going in a race car. Get PCI. They are circa 1970 radios, but they handle abuse like no other. If you are prerunning or chasing, get a 2 meter ham radio. I suggest the Icom icv8000. It has 25 more watts power than the PCI ones and it costs literally half as much. You need to pull a circuit to make it able to transmit on race channels, but if your just spectating then talk on the ham channels and just listen to the weatherman(scott at PCI's dad) handle all of the race issues and emergencies.
Kenwood tm-271 or icom 2100h are also great radios that cost even less.

Yes, it's been open for about a year now. There was a 2nd station ready to open when I was last there in November 06.

Also, for anyone relying solely on GPS (bad idea, never go without maps) a lot of the Pemexs shown on my GPS maps were either no longer there or not in operation, food for thought!
