Devil's Pass and westward
Just stumbled on this thread...
I too was intrigued by Devil's Pass, but had better luck finding (eventually) the road on the east side, October 2011, where it departed Devil's Creek. Once we were on the final stretch toward the pass, it was pretty good. The first mile or so down the west side, not so much. Tall grass hiding deep ruts that wanted to roll my tippy old Bronco.
We likewise found the valley where the rock formation is located, but in the evening light missed the rock itself, and camped in an open spot at the bottom of the valley. Next time...
