replacing all the bodged wiring in my 110. used wiring loom from disco 1 so i could fit the bigger fuse box and extra relay holders.
storage box that fits under centre console above g/box.
second fuel tank form 90 under drivers seat.
fitting eberspacher diesel heating system.
2pce roof rack.
extra lights to roof at rear for when towing
2 spots on roof rack at rear that i can use for working or flick switch over so they come on with reversing lights.
centre roof console to hold maps etc got built in map light on stalk on passenger side.
12v sockets in back for kids to charge games things when on long drives
2nd alt to run 2 extra batts for extras, been wired so if probs with main alt can swap multiplug over without stripping out main alt in middle of nowhere.
this list could run forever.

For my 109, fitting a 200Tdi and Roverdrive, Heystee parabolics, Defender heater, front seats, belts, doors and side windows, a Wright Off Road acoustic matting system, gear box longitudinal tie rod (as fitted to MoD Series LRs, which helps enormously with hand brake efficiency and makes the X-brake pointless), halogen head lights, SilBlade wiper blades and a Smartscreen intermittent wiper system have all made the vehicle much more usable for long drives and every day use. Heating the front seats and wing mirrors has been very worthwhile in the winter too The MoD 110 Jerrycan lockers, Barebox rear storage, Mobile Storage cooker box and MoD SIII 24V battery tray (under the centre cubby box)have made equipment storage very neat and capacious for little cost and relatively little effort.

the detroit locker is nice in the rear of the classic, other wise cup holders and temperature gauge, and VDO vision gauges in my Defender.

On my disco one of the cheapest and biggest bangs for the buck was swapping out the interior rear view mirror that had some sort of internal brown stain which rendered it unusable for one out of a 1998 LSE which is the only disco I have seen with factory map lights. They make a huge difference in the truck @ night. It was a simple case of unplug the stock auto dimming and just plug in the maplight version. Took about 15mins total.

Agree with Ray on the $$ mod. A winch and winch bumper make a huge difference in how you operate your truck, especially when you are alone, ie no one along to pull you out. I put a $500 used rovertym slim line on the disco and found a xd9000 on ebay with amsteel blue spooled on it for $250. The winch had no controler/solenoid box
and was on the left coast but I had it in the truck and working like a new one for another $125. These things can be done on the cheap if you are frugal.
I have seen the inside of the cargo area on Rays disco and the thumbnail pictures don't do it justice. Very well though out and put together.

My D1 also has the mirror issue.Haven't had a replacement option come up that wasn't cost prohibitive.Guess I need to look harder.

That's a fantastic deal. I want to get a synthetic winch line too, and for that deal, I could have removed the winch line, added my old stell cable, and sold the winch for probably the same amount. Persistence and patience pays off.

Yeah got the got the controller/solenoid box from Kelly in Tn for $50 shipped and the remote from my brother. MasterPull has awesome deals- check them on ebay (much cheaper than their website). They donated their biggest best line with a safety thimble to ROAV for the MAR auction. Great company. I dealt with the owners daughter. They are from Iceland and she and I got into a conversation about my trip around Iceland in a monster 110 about 10yrs ago.

Thanks for the comments about the cargo area. Oddly enough I'm about to do 3.0 of that evolution over the next few months. Same kinda theme as before but maximizing some things while also keeping rear ac on this truck. Will be updating the thread here at some point as it comes into shape.

Now I'm intrigued by this mirror...I've got a DII mirror in mine that the PO didn't wire in-but when we put the 2m in I lost my front courtesy light so that might be a good mod to throw in.

Speaking of mirrors. When I was rebuilding my interior, I got an autodimming mirror off ebay that has compass and ext temp on it. I love having both of those. And it made by the same manufacturer that supplies OEM mirrors to many marques including LR.

Best $$$ mod is a winch + synthetic rope; saves a lot of wear and tear to just pull cable instead of skinny pedal and enthusiasm.
Best $$ mod is the rear door setup, was fun and adds a lot of utility to the back of the truck

Best free mod is as others, removing the front and rear sways
Best mod that came with the truck is the front bumper the PO built

Most frustrating/worst mod is the aux port added on to the stock head unit that has resulted in alternator noise pick up. That will drive me to a $$ mod of a new head unit eventually.

If you don't mind sharing where did you get that fold down shelf? Thanks

Haha, Mine has been "leaky" since the day I bought it. I don't even notice it anymore. I actually have a D2 mirror all set to install. I got it for free on here from Chazz Layne. It's nice because there's nothing to leak and it has the built-in compass. The only reason I didn't install was because I'd lose my Map lights.
Mickey, if you want it its all yours. Otherwise someone else can have it. Might as well pay it forward. :)

Cyclone snorkle top.

during a recent service I noticed that the perforated tube surrounding the air filter in my 300TDI had lots of rust spots on it, after driving in a bad rain storm I checked the filter and found it was quite damp even with the ram top facing backwards.

I've now swapped the ram head for a "popcorn cooker" style cyclone top bought from Ebay for £20.

The pics show the water it collected after a 60 mile drive in the rain, it is also mesmerising watching suff spin around the bowl as I drive, my filters are now much cleaner and rust free.!

regards all
