If all goes as planned for me I'll be leaving San Antonio around 4:30am and get to BB around 1pm or so. Barring any problems. Well, after looking at that, I might push that back to 5:30 or six. That's just awefully early to be on the road with the suicide deer around here and in the Hill Country.

Scott-
I need some clarification. I am a bad planner and trying to plan ahead for a change. Are we going to be meeting at Big Bend on the first, or heading out there from AZ on the first?

Please let me know!

Wil I'm not sure what the plans are but I won't be to BB until 1pm or so. I figure that even if we miss them they will be within reach by the time I get the truck unloaded and down the trail.

I was thinking about being at BB morning on the 1st ready to go. However, we can certainly have an afternoon meeting spot on Thu 1 Feb, conversely meet at about 12-1pm on that day. I've annotated the map and will post info today, it'll require GE http://earth.google.com .

BTW, not that it's important but I might have a navigator coming with me. I asked my brother-in-law last night. He's a maybe right now but will let me know within the next week or two.

Cool sounds good. Keep us posted on the map.

I think a stock vehicle would actually be okay with a few tricky spots. A mild lift and good tires I think is the game plan for BiBe.

Dang it, this one is about as "in my neck of the woods" as one of these trips will probaby get (still probably 10-12+ hour drive..).

And to boot, it is a place I have wanted to go for a while....

But, I am oncall starting that same friday  and low on funds to boot! 'Twas a good Christmas....but left us on the short end of that whole money thing..:xxrotflma

So I am left to just sit here and wait for the trip report, but I would SO love to go...

Y'all, this is going to be a wonderful trip! Our magazine was there in early November and we did a feature write-up on the park and our 2.5 day excursion there. We not only enjoyed all of the OHV trails in the park but also backpacked the South Rim, which is by far THE classic hike of Texas. Check out our story on the trip at:

When do you plan on leaving PHX? You want to caravan?

Yes sir. I may however have my family accompanying me :) But don't know yet. I'll be leaving that Wednesday afternoon, trying to make camp somewhere deep into TX or in Las Cruces for Wed night and be at BiBe disrespecfully early on Thu.

I gotta post another thread for some site ideas along the way?

Folks,

I'm planning on bringing of course bacon :) However, if interested let's plan on bringing a couple shared dishes. Love to see how my canned beans and jalepeños compares to your fare  (kidding, I'll try for something decent).

If you like beer, let's bring some good stuff.
