We were told that the Bronco will be made, Ford won't stop making the Raptor until they have too. Its the most profitable vehicle they make.

Thought the E-Series van was the most profitable vehicle Ford ever made, that thing was unchanged for how many years?

I think what everyone is missing here is that Ford is the only company that has even attempted to create something with the off road crowd in mind. Dodge doesn't, GM doesn't (I am the body shop manager at a GMC delaership) Toyota slaps a TRD sticker on everything from a Camry on up. Instead of getting into an argument about the semantics of the truck, I think a kudos needs to go out to Ford for at least trying to put something out there for the off road crowd. Secondly, I am pretty sure that the vast majority of people on expo portal don't, won't or can't throw down $60000 for one of these trucks to use as their build. To the guys out there that are dogging on it, buy one and give us an in depth review of what it really is like, until then quit flaming about it.

Well said. I do work at a Ford dealership and I have found that most people that are not impressed by the Raptor have not spent much time off roading one. It was funny, In the offroad race community the Raptor got pretty beat up in the beginning, mostly by people that this product cut into there business, now go see how many are at the crossroads cafe during the Parker 425 .

I have beat the crap out of this truck, even pre ran with it, no doubt it is awesome.

The power wagon is geared towards offroad
The trd has a locker. That's pretty well geared towards off road
Nissan has lockers
There are plenty of manufacturers that build off road vehicles.

One of my buddies had a 2013 Eco boost f 150 and loved it. He said the only issue was when driving it in cool, humid, especially foggy weather, there were a few times on interstate on ramps when he pressed the accelerator and it did nothing. He traded it in on a 2014 Raptor after almost getting squashed by a cement truck. He had researched the issue and found this was an issue Ford knew about but had no cure. Condensation would collect in the intercooler. Under WOT, it would hit the MAF and for some reason would throw a misfire code causing the ECU to back things off. After being run a bit and restarted, the problem would clear. He also loved the fuel economy, but said when towing his bass boat, the mileage would drop by more than half.

I like the raptor now I just can't bring myself to this new body. I will not buy one as it does not fit my needs. My ex wife has one and I have beat it like a red headed step child. It's a great truck if you have room.

I think it is the level of offroad performance. Yes lots of trucks have lockers, but they use crap shocks, no increase in wheel travel for the most part along with many other items. So far, the Raptor is way, way out front of its competition.

I like the Raptor...that said, it really isn't anything special. A mid travel kit, some leafs removed from the rear spring pack, and wider fenders...meh big deal. I can install that stuff in a day in my driveway. Anything super serious, you're going to have to rip out that suspension and replace it with aftermarket...as some guys do.

Maybe not quite as Beefy as the Raptor, Toyota has three off road oriented platforms with the TRD Pro series, that is two more than Ford.

If it were me, I would just buy the base model whatever, and tune the suspension to my needs, because even though the turn key factory offerings are nice...they aren't quite the right fit for me. Those trucks are for guys you don't like spinning their own wrenches. NTTIAWWT.

The Fox shocks on the Raptor are fairly entry level compared to what else they have. They have versions that are loads better.

The Billies on the TRD Pro aren't the best either. I wouldn't buy either the Yota or the Ford...you can do much better with after market, if you're truly looking for performance...than trying to look hawt in the Starbucks parking lot. :ylsmoke:

For $60K...you can build truck that will put the Raptor to shame.

Pretty much...I like stealth. Like when you take an old man looking truck and toss some sleeper parts in it.. look at those juicy suspension bits underneath.

Sans the prerunner bumper, can't get anymore old man looking than a camper shell and brown paint.

This thread is about the Raptor and comparisons. It is not just a Baja style truck, it actually wheels pretty well in the Rocks, its a little big but it will surprise you. Its great off-road, no you wont be taking it on the Rubicon, but its not a 2wd Baja only style truck.

So your original point is apples to oranges. You said no one makes a truck such as the raptor, which ford advertises as a baja style truck. You also said they are at Least trying to make a True off road truck. Other people on here have pointed out that other manufacturers do make true offroad trucks. I'm confused.

I like both...that said, probably comparing an apple to a fish, I prefer dirt bikes over cages. You can take a bone stock $10K KTM 500, and lay the Raptor to waste in Baja. That leaves $50K for Tacos and Beer!:sombrero:

It isn't until recently that cage has beat a bike overall in Baja....though they had to spend a million dollars on the vehicle alone to do it, while a properly set up Pro bike will run you $20-30K.
