Broken Shock and Shock Mount on D1

What springs are you running?

I was told they were 3" RTE springs and have no to reason to believe differently.

sounds like you are bottoming out and shouldn't use drop down mounts with that spring shock setup.

I thought a 3" spring with a 2" shock/lowered mount was a pretty common setup?

Springs do NOT limit compression travel, or I should say they should not limit it.... If you want to limit compression travel you MUST add longer bump stops. If the springs do limit the compression travel, you will break something as the springs should not ever fully collapse.

Really if you drop stock shocks 2", you should extend bump stops by 2". In reality, due to geometry, you can get away with less.

The problem with suspension lifts in the Rover community is nobody sells proper kits nor informs customers of all the items that really should be addressed...

A 3" spring lift really should have...
- Springs.
- Adjusted shock mounts or longer travel shocks.
- Longer bump stops or bump stop spaces.
- Longer brake lines.
- Some form of castor correction...
- Driveshafts suitable for the lift and travel.
- Modified radius arms and trailing arms are a good idea at this lift level as well.

Everything is there but the driveshafts and possibly the bump stops. I'll be getting driveshafts shortly.
