Brute with aluminum tray bed

It takes commitment and a high level of skill, plus a big infusion of cash, to build a Brute. Cut a '97-'06 Jeep Wrangler TJ frame in half, lengthen it, add a two seat cab, make suspension upgrades, and maybe engine upgrades. Whew!

It's a pity that Jeep still hasn't decided to produce a pickup version of the Wrangler, or import the Jeep J8 to USA. The Toyota Land Cruiser 78 and the Mercedes G-Class 'Kastenwagen' (2 door van) are similar in some ways, and they are not imported here, either! It's a conspiracy!

Yeah, I built the TJ first over 4 years. Then bought the Brute pieces little by little since AEV offers the kit now in pieces. It took a bit, but I finally got it there.

Best side shot I have, when I had the pressure washer in the back.

Simply AWESOME!!!! Having used Ute-beds extensivly in Australia I can attest to the fact that they are one of the best utility design's on the plannet. The ability to go from P/U bed to flat bed in mere minutes is awesome and the integrated "headache" rack makes modern P/U beds seem down-right unsafe by comparison plus gives you a great place to mount things like Hi-lifts, Jerry-cans etc... Why they haven't caught on here in the states more is beyond me.

Cheers

They certainly are very good products. When I contacted ute in Seattle, Randy there was extremely helpful. He took a bed down to aev to test fit on their brute, which is the green one pictured first in the thread. If you had both aevs bed, and a ute bed. Itd be so easy to switch them out. Four bolts, and brake wires.

Mounted the rear bar on the back. It came with the bed, just havent got around to putting it in. Also had the light forces laying around. Made the little hoop for the front, the bull horns thread in to wrap the winch rope when wheeling.

The bars on the tray, and a canvas topper would officially propel it to the coolesttjonexpo position (for me, for now) :)

It looks to me like slightly more wheelbase would make the bed look a little more proportional... Seems like alot of rear overhang especially if you plan on loading it up and using it, getting to much weight in the bed behind the rear axle could cause some interesting handling quirks. Other than that, I think its great! I always wanted to turn my 98 into a Brute...

Very nice! Beautiful execution! I've seen the advantages of those kinds of beds on old Toyotas in the Middle East! You could easily fit two camels back there... I guess it would have to be moose where you live!
