Ha! Two bucks for that mount! That's awesome! I love stuff like that.

I mounted the Hi-Lift up front too. Really like it there, because the engine drowns out any rattling noises from the jack. It does get covered with bugs though, so the jacking mechanism got lubricated well, and a neoprene cover put on. Also added a couple of locks, so that if I'm out hiking for the day, or spending the night at a hotel, it doesn't walk away by itself.

Yeah it was $2.00 well spent! I didn't want a traditional CB taking up space on my dash and am happy with this Midland. I toss it right in the glovebox when it's not in use. If you look closely you will notice I flipped over my front tow hooks in order to fit the Hi-Lift. I ended up using a bicycle lock to secure it but will probably get something more reliable. The neoprene cover is a good idea..

My neighbor has the same CB. He bundled it together with a magnetic mount antenna and uses the cigarette lighter adapter. This way he can toss the whole bundle in any of his vehicles. He really likes it. I was impressed with the build quality. Also really cool to just add some AA batteries, and take it portable. Great value for the money in my book! :thumb:

I noticed your tow hooks. that's a great idea. Simple and free! :)

No mods since my last post but just wanted to check in with anyone who's following and give a quick update-

Last weekend I participated in the Vermont Overland Beer Safari which was an amazing event that took us through some great class 4 roads and more importantly to some amazing breweries. I spent a lot of time looking at other rigs as there was quite a variety to look at. My build and plans for the JKU have always been function > looks and being a part of the ExPo community has pushed me further in that direction. Yeah, I obviously want to have a good looking rig but what I really give a **** about is the ability to drive it from point A to point B then back to A with being comfortable and most importantly not having any issues.

My Cooper ST-MAXX tires were aired down to 15 psi for this trip and they were awesome. They cut through mud like a knife does to butter. I was happy with how the ProComp shocks performed as a lot of people said they'd give a stiff ride but they were fine for me.

My next step for my build is to construct some sort of rear storage system for the cargo area. I also like the ability to fold down the rear seats and sleep in the Jeep so I need to take this into consideration. I really like the idea of a refrigerator in the back as well. None of these things will be happening asap but at least I know what direction I'm headed in. Thanks for following!

A match made in heaven!

OH MAN! That sounds like nirvana! Breweries and off roading... OK obviously it's not beer while wheeling. I've had some great dinners at Microbreweries.
Sounds like a great event.
.
Sure sounds like we have the same criteria, and similar goals (form follows function). I will also second your tire choice, and note they work great in the dry loose dirt, rocks and sand. :thumb:

No big mods planned but here is a small list of things to be done -

-I'd like to build some type of storage system for the rear. Maybe draws with a sleeping platform on top? Would love to get a fridge eventually. I often haul around 4 passengers so a permanent rear system with the seats removed is probably out of the question, but who knows..

-Winch and front bumper are two things that'll be done in the future. I want a good quality bumper that hides the winch and am not a fan of the bumpers that have the winches on top and exposed to the elements. Most likely going to save up for an ARB and not in any rush whatsoever for a rear bumper.

My main thing is to make this Jeep habitable.. Time to get planning..

Plasti Dipped my grille the other day and happy with the results. Might spray on another coat this weekend for good measure.

Well I just hit the 90,000 mark and plan to make a list of things I should get checked out maintenance wise. I am leaking power steering fluid so that is first on my list.

Just read through your build! Thats one sweet jku you got! Something like this will be our next purchase in the future! Just gotta get one of our 2 cars paid off first...but as soon as that happens its in to the dealer for a trade in!

Been awhile since I've posted but here are some updates. Was debating between an ARB fridge and a Yeti cooler and decided to go with the latter. Also ordered a set of OME lower front control arms and stainless steel brake lines. Need to do a little maintenance before the start of summer.
