Bull Bar Hi-Lift Mount?

Is no one concerned with being in a front end crash and having that thing come flying through the windshield?

I guess for me there are to many other options to consider this.

Another consideration when keeping the HiLift at the front is exposure to dirt. They are infamous for jamming due to dirt contamination and the front of the truck has to be one of the worst places for this.

I'm mentioning this because I'm getting the impression that it is not common knowledge. Apologies if that is the wrong impression.
It is a real structural loss to drill holes in a round tube. I know, nearly everyone does it. This is a case where getting away with it doesn't mean that it's right or the correct thing to do. Eventually those holes will cause a failure of the tube. How soon depends on the severity of the use, the size of the hole, the size of the tube, and on the weight attached & it's leverage.
If a tube must have a hole in it then it should have a sleave completely through the hole and be welded on both sides.

Much easier to weld on tabs instead.

Here's mine mounted to the ARB upper light mounts with 12mm bolts
spacers are nylon bushings.

Nuts are nylocks...jack provides a nice flat surface for snow margaritas !!!!

That's probably the best argument against mounting the jack up front I've heard. It's making me think that it would be better to stow the jack somewhere else while traveling to the trail, then moving to the front while on the trail for ease of access.

This has always been my concern over this mounting option.

No.

I guess I got lucky, my ARB bullbar came with two antenna mounting tabs welded to the top tube which have been perfect for holding my jack. I just machined up some delrin spacers, and use 1/2" bolts and wing nuts to bolt mine down.

I think two 1/2" bolts are plenty to hold that weight in a collision. There are plenty of other objects in your truck held down with less than that. Your seats and seatbelts being a good example...

No.

I'm inclined to agree. Most everything on the road will hit my ARB square or bury itself underneath the truck.

I'd actually be more concerned about the Hi-Lift's inertia trying to launch it forward from the bull bar in the event of a traffic collision.

I welded a bolt to a couple of shaft collars. I spent a whopping 10 bucks maybe. I do like the look of the fancy aluminum ones though!
