I had an 2008 Jeep Patriot Sport 2wd with the CVT transmission. Good little car overall, gave it away 10 years later with over 260k miles on it. Hated the CVT, but it did good in the snow, not so much in the sand, forest roads it was ok. I did transport some kayaks a few times on some Yakima racks, it did alright, the little 2.4 liter didn’t like the extra wind resistance. When I tossed some slightly larger Yokohama ATS 225/65R17 tires on it the MPGs suffered. I looked at several of the “lift” kits, but didn’t want to deal with CV joint issues. But as grocery getters go, it did the job.

Just one guy’s opinion: I’d go with some moderate AT tires and skip the lift. If you plan on routes that would require that lift, I’d go with a different vehicle.
