Camp stove pots

This is the one that we use as well. It served well for 3 months on the road then another 4 months at home while we waited for our household goods to catch up. The bottoms are pretty thick and no nonstick coating. There is only one handle and it can be a bit finicky to attach though it became easier over time. We use a separate frying pan as well.

I really needed my pots to nest, but if you can work around that requirement then buying cheap at a thrift store is going to offer a lot higher quality pots for a lot less money. "Outdoor" products all have a premium price tag on them...

I would like for my pots to nest as well.

Tex68w,
Thanks for your reply and explanation.
I cooked with cast iron for most of my camping adventures and then found non-stick. I have turned the corner and use it almost all the time now, even at home. Clean up for me is a paper towel and hot water.
I guess it would depend on what is being cooked in that pan. Did not think of searing as cast iron is better for that. Still have my cast iron though.

I have an MSR Titan kettle and carry a standard non-stick 8" fry pan. That's it. The last thing I want to do when camping is deal with a large kitchen and complex meals. All sorts of mindsets here.

Agreed, different strokes.....

My buddy lives out of a Sportsmobile 4wd Econoline a few months out of the year and he almost solely lives off of canned foods and freeze dried meals like Mountain House leaving him only in need of a pot to boil water and heat things up in. It's not how I prefer to eat, it certainly has its place but I feel life is too short to eat sub par food by choice lol, but YMMV. I fear the Army left me with a distaste for MRE's and freeze dried foods lol. That said, Mountain House has some tasty options.

I plan to carry a cast iron pan for eggs and times when I don't intend on busting out the Skottle. Non-stick certainly has it's place, but for myself I prefer to go a different route.

I need thicker, studier, cookware that I can bang around from white gas stove to campfire and not worry too much about cleaning with whatever is handy. And a teflon pan for eggs and such. :)

I am looking to buy a set of nesting pots in the next year or so. I am liking the Magna pans. My primary cooking stove would be a old school Coleman but I would also like to cook on a fire on occasion. I have never read anything about the induction pans, does anyone know if they are ok to use on a campfire or their cooking characteristics compared to standard pans on a Coleman stove? Are there any nesting pans that would be able to be used in a microwave as well as a Coleman stove and a campfire?

I used Pyrex glass pot on a gas stove at home and it exploded and ended up in thousands of pieces. I wear glasses and glad I do so or the pieces would have gone in my eye. I will never use those glass pots again, don' trust 'em. Even if metal pot melts from the heat it is better than an explosion.

Really interested in this thread. I've decided that camp pots MUST have some sort of non-stick coating. Anything else is just "too much work". Anyone found a stackable system that will fit in a 9-inch space?

At home i have Corningware at home which is great on the stove or microwave but not really suited to camping. I was looking for something similar that was made to nest and would be be able to go over a fire

Yes, this:
GSI Outdoors - Pinnacle Base Camper Small, Camping Cook Set, Superior Backcountry Cookware Since 1985

This is 10" here:
GSI Outdoors - Pinnacle Base Camper Large, Camping Cook Set, Superior Backcountry Cookware Since 1985

As I stated in an earlier post in this thread, these are non stick, and I actually prefer them over my more expensive Magma cookset.
Plus I like the non stick features better on the less expensive GSI Pinnacle sets, and the weight savings, even with two sets it weighs less than the Magma set.

If I had to buy just one set again, I would go with the small.
The only reason I bought the large the first time was I did not realize how big the posts here.
Each set comes with:
Carrying bag
two lids
pot holder thingmajungy
two pots
one fry pan
round plastic cutting board

Not seen in my photos below is the smaller sets frypan.
It is just slightly smaller than the large sets frypan, and I keep the small one in my home to cook fried eggs or omelettes in.

And as I stated in the other post, all of this set will nest together to make one big super set if you want to do like I did.
The small set is around 8.5 to 9" wide, and the larger set is around 10" wide.

The whole set fits my new Trail Kitchens chuckbox too.
The Magma did too, but it takes up more room than the GSI set.
