Camp trailer with mx bike carrier?

Hi,

Looking for some ideas/pictures of an expedition trailer with some sort of bike carrier incorporated into it.
Was thinking of having both roof tent and bike on trailer
Thanks

I'm likely adding a hitch to my 4x6 trailer to run a typical 2 tray carrier. But I have some ideas to mount a tray on the side rail. Kids will be mtb in a yr or two can't wait!!! As such I need a more functional way to haul 4 bikes with the camp rig.

A quick Google search and I can up with these

To be honest though, if you are hauling toys and need room for a tent I think I would try to modify a sylvan sport trailer

What is your tow rig?

The sylvan trailer is stupid $$$$$ and cheap tube construction on tiny wheels. And has a super light tiny tent. Last I looked a $9000 POS... I wouldn't recommend one to anyone.

The 2nd and 4th pictures look like a good idea.
Will be hoping to make trailer with extending platform for tent.

Tow rig is 80 series landcruiser

It just depends on your intended use.

I think it works great for a toy hauler that doesn't see anything more than a dirt road. I bet it could also be modified pretty easily for a trailing arm suspension and larger tires.

It is too expensive for what you get, on that I'll agree.

There is nothing wrong with the tent though. I've through hiked with a lighter fabric tent and never had any issues. The sylvan tent doesn't even touch the ground.

I modified a 4-foot wide hitch rack from Northern Tool. It fits into the receiver on my Morris Mule (www.morrismule.com). The rack is made to attach to an ATV.

The "tray" for the bike is a piece of 4-inch SCH 40 PVC pipe with some bracing added for rigidity.

Hope this helps.

Agreed. I thought those were the best options as well. Plus it doesn't affect you departure angles. Although it will affect you min allowable angel between the rig and trailer.

If you are looking for more of a toy hauler though Nuthouse Industries makes a pretty nice one. It's huge though, which would limit its off-road capabilities.

Very big but a good idea all the same.
A motorcycle carrier.
The idea would be to go to North Africa set up camp for few days and go off riding.
I would just get a normal bike trailer but iv always wanted an expedition trailer with rooftent as I hate the idea of roof rack or anything on the roof which seems silly but that's me

I don't think it sounds silly at all.

If you're heading to Africa, maybe look into a conqueror trailer. It would be far more suitable as a "base camp" style trailer. They are expensive though.

I guess it just depends on how utilitarian you want to get.

Depending on when you want to go it may be worth holding out for patriot campers to start shipping here in the states too.

Between them and conqueror are some of the most well equipped expo trailers on the market available this side of the pacific.

Here are a few options from patriot.

i bought this trailer used for a couple hundred , cleaned it up ,painted it .put a new floor in , tounge box ,welded up a sturdy frame for the rtt.put in the wheel chock which is bolted to the frame. flipped the axles , and put on new 13 inch e rated tires .just got back from the shake down run , 2100 miles with a sportster and camping gear with out a hitch.it made a great little toy hauler camper and people seemed very intrested in it , but i guess thats anywhere you with a rtt20170418_163528_resized.jpg20170429_122932_resized.jpg20170212_083553_resized.jpg

I have been working on the bumper for my trailer that will have a swing out tire carrier that has a receiver hitch in it so I can swing everything out of the way. This trailer doesn't have a roof top tent but may have one when everything is said and done. The plan is to also put two receiver hitches under the bumper for leveling jacks and build them in strong enough to make a Motorcycle carrier with tail lights to plug into a harness. when it is used that way I would have to move as much weight forward to keep it distributed properly.
