Can the iPhone 4s replace a regular camera?

Poor man's quick comparison from tonight:

iPhone 4s no-flash:

I think that there are apps on the iphone which will allow for better light metering for shutter, but just off-the-shelf results.

Just curious, did you tap the screen in the iPhone to engage the white balance and exposure meter? I find that makes a world of difference in scenes like that.

I have been using my samsung galaxy SII (Droid) camera much more than my DSLR and have been VERY happy with the results. I haven't even played around with the settings yet.

Just got back from Edinburgh, London and France and captured on my Nikon D300 and an iPhone 4s.

Here are a sample of the iPhone 4s shots. Most are very punchy and non-natural, but overall I was very happy with the performance.

Would it replace my DSLR? Not a chance. Different tools in the toolbox.

Pretty impressive for a phone...but I will not be selling the 7D anytime soon... although I may just need to buy a fancy iphone to supplement.
