Canoe or no canoe?

Looks great, some pool noodles spray painted black and split lengthwise to pad the roof would work perfect for that.

Thanks I actually went to Lowes and got the pipe padding, it had sticky tape on it already and it was 3.50 cents cheaper. Gotta take it easy and save my beer money for the trip tomorrow,

On my XJ I usually try to center the canoe on the rack even though it sticks farther out the back. It just seems a little more stable having the straps even rather than having them on only one half of the boat, but since you are using your winch line to hold the front it might be pretty stable. The first time you are doing interstate speed with a high cross wind you'll find out if that works or not.

Given your setup I'd stick the canoe on the Jeep for certain. The trailer is a little small for a canoe.

With the soft top I'd recommend a removable T-bar on the front bumper and possibly one on the rear. Another good use of receiver hitch mounts in your bumper. You can daisy chain the rear hitch through a T-bar so that you can still use the trailer.

I used to put out 17' canoe on top of the LWB SJ-413. Its roughly the same length as a TJ and it looked good up there IMO.

My buddy offered me an extender and he has this T that uses to get tubing. He sticks in the receiver of his work truck and it goes up 8 ft then the rest of the tubing slide over roof . I thought about using it but once I tightened it down 4 straps and the winch holding in the front it was solid. Im not worried about that top the first chance i get im getting a hard top. Im done with the soft tops. Thanks for the info.

Ive been hauling canoes on a trailer not much longer than yours for 25 years!
No problems at all ( 17' canoes )!
I did run a light from the trailer lights to the end of the canoe for visability.
Good luck and happy canoeing!

Thanks man will do my wife is so excited to be out on the water. Living in the desert we dont get to see water too much. Both being from the east coast we wont be able to sleep tonight.
