Hey Scott you mention Sallys age and ability..
I get a ton of patients off the res and I have found that if they hold to the old ways & diet they are strong, fit and happy....if they have taken to a high sugar & alcohol diet/lifestyle they are diabetic, overwgt and on the edge of total system crash.

Some of the old guys that still ranch sheep up there are twice my age and twice as tough as I am...it just goes to show you how if a people are left to live traditional livestyles they actually know what they are doing.

mmmmmmm. Fry Bread! :drool::drool:

I've wasted about 20 lbs of flour trying to make those dang things but no dice. The native americans can certainly make it though.

Great photo's.

I worked on a Reservation in Northern Minnesota. The Fry Bread was awesome! I love Fry Bread Tacos! :drool:

Yep great place and memories. I can't believe my oldest was that young boy. Also two other children of members here from years ago:

Great photos.

Are the locals still tearing down the signs that direct you to the canyon?

I like the portraits, especially the tour guide's series. You seem to have a genuine interest in people Scott, and it comes across in your pictures. Thank you for sharing.

Great pictures. I was talking to my mother-in-law the other day about exploring Disappointment Valley and Canyon de Chelly. There are so many special little micro-cultures to be found without even leaving this country.

Thanks for sharing your trip. I never even knew this place existed, what great scenery. It's also nice to see a trip report where there is as much thought devoted to the people and not to just the scenery or the vehicles. Well done!
