Chinese Air Locker

Well jeez, what's all the fuss about then. I'll just rely on that graph, start shopping at WallyWorld and say it's all good. But, I might also tell my daughter to brush up on some Mandarin, just in case.

I wonder if anyone is actually running these Chinese lockers.

I happened upon this posts after reading several different forums one of which was Australian specific. They refered to ARB as airleaker.

Just wonder what the options are. I would assume that most everything out there exceeds the quality of the factory units available 20-30 years ago.

I own three land cruisers 60 no lockers, 70 no lockers, and 100 rear factory locker and thinking about getting a 1999 Sahara no locker.

Cost is a factory not really into brands but I don’t expect a Chinese locker company to stand behind a product long term. I am fine with a reliable middle of the road solution.

Just hoping for some real world reviews.

Thanks

So if this thing fails (as some ARB's do) or needs to be serviced, where would you send it? Who would you call if you had a question?
That's kind of it really. It's not so much that these knock-offs exist (it's a major thing in two-way radios for example) or that they are or aren't a benefit to the consumer. To me it's that there is no consistency in design or manufacturing, support after the sale, etc. So you have to view each purchase as almost semi-custom. Some are better than others about spare parts (or firmware updates with radios) but most of the time if it breaks and you can't fix it you just throw it away. If an Air Locker isn't in the cards (understandable) and it's straight price question between a Chinese air locker and a Lockright I guess you have to say if you break a Lockright there's a company who will sell you new pins and springs to fix it. So it's a long term question about what you're after. It doesn't have to be, there are plenty of legitimate Chinese made products, so it's about the expectation. That's what someone once told me about off shoring. They'll make every bit as good or poor of a product as you ask them to. The same factory will make cheap junk as makes Apple or Dell computers.

The chinese wanted to copy the f22, but they put the wings and tail in the wrong spots:

So yeah, unless you want your ring gear on backwards.............

Consider Yukons Zip Locker.
