Chinese diesel heater with portable power

I have a Chinese diesel heater that I planned on powering with my portable battery pack. The battery pack is a FlashFish 166Wh that says the DC output is up to 10 amps at 9-12 volts. BUT, the heater shuts itself down for not having enough power.

The heater only draws maybe 9 amps on startup and then less than 1 amp after the glow plug turns off. I would think this battery would power the heater for a night.

Can anyone suggest a workaround? Maybe using the built-in inverter instead and convert back to 12v?

Currently I'm successfully using the heater hooked up to a marine battery but I would rather only use the portable power supply bc I can charge it with solar.

Here's my workaround for that. I've been using my cheap diesel heater without fail for two years. approx 60 nights so far.

I am no expert in these maths, but trying to setup something similar.

13.83Ah @ 12V... that heater runs at around 1-2A on low, right? Gonna smoke that battery in one night. How well does the solar replenish the battery and what if there’s no sun?

My calcs could be wrong, just a thought exercise.

I think your math is right but I think it can still work for me. It can be charged from my truck DC or AC as well.

Right on. I like your camper setup.

You could add a second battery in the stock second battery location and run power from it back to your camper.
This would allow you to run a decent sized battery that is neatly tucked out of the way.
