Clutch pedal drama

On a journey through Portugal, the clutch pedal of our 1719 suddenly stuck to the floor.

It was 1017A deja vue, leaking seals of the hydraulic clutch system. But not this time!

Here's the story:

Clutch pedal cylinder broken

Always nice to have a few spare seals....

4 weeks later the root cause of the clutch drama emerged in France;

The metal pipe from the clutch pedal cylinder was rubbing against the body work over
the past 10 years. This tiny leak caused a pocket of air in the cylinder, in the end it
stuck to the floor. Pulling it back by hand caused the center pin to de-center and
crush the plastic piston when pressed down again.

Good to know: Newer versions of the clutch cylinder piston are made of alloy / aluminum.

The tiny leak was discovered after seeing just 1 drop of brake fluid on the tarmac.

Cheers!
