Found the elusive 28 spline Nissan manual hubs. They should be here next week.

I don't post much, but I just want to say that your truck is one of my favorites.

Thanks SOCO!
Now for the BLOG:
The truck is in the shop (Green Tree Fab) getting its 3rd timing belt as it just hit the 200k mark. These guys know Toyotas and they don't mind my Nissan.

The manual hubs are going to be a weekend project.
Next I'm looking at the basic tune up. I'm going to stick with the NGK wires, Nissan cap and rotor, and switching from NGK IV Iridium plugs to NGK laser Iridium, just to try the new technology. This set up has worked well for the last 130k. Nissan's respond well to the NGK products my only comparison was the Denso plugs that I swapped out when I purchased the truck, so what do I know may just be pissing away money.
Winter gas and running 4x4 has been dinging the MPG lately so hopefully a fresh tune will bring things back up. I just noticed that I'm at about 53k miles tracked on Fuelly.com.

17 mixed is pretty good. I'm about 16 or 17 for the last 25 000 miles or so. I can get about 18 or 19 pretty easily on the highway and more like 13 or 14 around.

Looks like I'm making a trip out to Kennecott/McCarthy in Wrangle St. Elias National Park this weekend.
The Edgerton Hwy AK HWY 10 gets me nervous in the summer and this will be my first time driving it in the winter. I have to get tire chains today and some other items prepped. My partner is from Expedition Royalty and this is just a weekend adventure for her, you can read about her parents here.

Great pictures! I wouldn't trust my dogs walking on the edge of the bridge like that. They would probably jump.

What do you do up there? It's a nice cabin/house.

That house/lodge is a summer rental, that one of my friends is caretaking for the next year. I've only been to the park in the summer when all the seasonal workers and tourists are there so I jumped at a chance to see it in the off season. I only met 4 other people living out there this time of year.

For what I do, well try to be a ski bum, but work often gets in the way. For work, may as well make it fun, so I work with locating historic trails and legal rights of way around the state. Mostly historic document research (back to territorial days, gold rush pre-statehood) but the fun is ground truthing these routes.

Great pictures! I wouldn't trust my dogs walking on the edge of the bridge like that. They would probably jump.
Thanks Scott, that dog for being a cow dog healer type mut is smart. I've been on trips with her in the mountains that are no fall zones and I've only seen her freak out once trying to find a safe route. I just noticed in the National Park Service sign that they mis-spelled McCarthy from your post. haha may take some time to fix that one.
