My wife and I are actually planning on coming up the UP for our 1-yr anniversary trip. We're both originally from the SE-MI part but now live in Elgin.. We've been using the various trip reports here and on the upoverland site as guidance.. Now I need to pick up a good map showing the various trails in the UP. Any recommendations?

Go with a DeLorme Gazeteer and try to pick up some of the regional snowmobile/atv maps as a starting point. We just recently added an adventure maps section to the forum with shared track logs and cool spots to check out.

I'm just catching up on this thread. Kristian you are such a vibrant and passionate ambassador for our state. Thanks for the great trip reports. Missed you on the recent shenanigan (and the Discovery- we needed some LRs bad on UPO 2010).
Seney is just magic- we try to get up there about twice a year for some liesurely wildlife viewing.

Yes, I'm guilty of neglecting the Mid-west; having grown up there I take it for granted. I need to change that attitude.

Nicely documented report Kristian. Your beautiful pictures of striking scenery have convinced me to put the UP on my short-list of travel locations. Thanks for your intiative and chronicling skills!
