Crazy about Jalapenos!

I always make jalapeños pop for appetizers for bbqs. Everyone loves them. Others have mentioned the recipe. Its basically jalapeño halves with cream cheese and bacon. You can also wrap a shrimp in there.

These are my favorite jalapeño chips:

Habanero favor is pretty damn good too.

Taco King was amazing! As Ho suggested, we had the tacos de carne asada con todo, cebolla y cilantro con chile rojo. Also had tacos de pastor and tamales de queso y jalapeno. The pastor tacos were even better than the carne asada.

Found this website (no affiliation) that those in or visiting LA might enjoy. Has ratings and reviews of all of the taco stands:

I like to slice them in half and clean out the seeds and rib meat then stuff with cream cheese wrap with bacon held together with a tooth pick and grilled rather quickly with Ranch dressing for dippin! Oh and the hotter the pepper the better!

OH MY GOD that sounds good! The cream cheese doesn't ooze out when you grill them? or do you put them on a pan or something?

I mix in a little shredded crab meat and seasoning into the crème cheese before stuffing. Then use a good center cut peppered Bacon to tightly wrap them, skewering them with tooth picks. As long as they are tightly wrapped most of the cheese stays inside the pepper. :sombrero:

I have been eating this on almost a daily basis ever since this was posted (almost three months ago) sometimes with cream cheese mixed in. All I can say is, do not fry jalapenos inside unless you have a REALLY good exhaust fan! The military has spent who knows how much researching chemical warfare when they could have just fried up some jalapenos. Seriously my mouth and my stomach can handle it, my lungs cannot!

I think on my next camping trip, when everyone else is doing smores, I'll have a bacon wrapped, cream cheese stuffed, jalapeno on my skewer.:1888fbbd:

YUM!!! So it sounds like you wrap your bacon around the top & bottom of the jalapeno? I've seen on a show on food network where they wrapped it around the middle of the jalapeno. I definitely want to try this without making a mess of the whole thing!

Here's another idea from a dish I enjoyed at a place in St. Pete. Don't know their exact recipe, but this is the one I created.

Southwestern Deviled Eggs
Hard Boiled Eggs
Mix the yolk by hand or in a cuisinart with lemonnaise (a soy mayo) or mayonnaise
Add salt, paprika, red pepper and lemon or lime juice to taste
Fill the eggs with the mixture
top with crumbled bacon
top with a sliced (as thick as you'd like) fresh jalapeno slice

Bet you can't eat just a few. Highly addictive.

I slice and clean out the jalpenos from the side and then wrap the bacon around the pepper to hold that verticle slice resonably closed. :costumed-smiley-007

Do you think they would stay sufficiently closed for putting them on a skewer and roasting them marshmallow style, or should I give it up and just pop them on the grill? (I know I could just try it, but I don't want it going all wrong in front of everybody)

I don't see why it wouldn't work. It will get entertaining with the bacon grease flaming up but as long as you have a professional grade marshmallow stick...I mean skewer, it should work fine. :1888fbbd:

I think I have seen long skewers that have a double prong fork on the end. That would be perfect for roasting one of these puppies. :chef:

I have never any problems with the cream cheese making a mess. I wrap the bacon around the peno pretty tight then I skewer it in the middle with a tooth pick. I've also done it without tooth picks. When the bacon cooks, it shrinks around the peno.
