Custom hard Top Tent Build

Starting to build a hard top tent out of 3/4 inch plywood and canvas to go on my Ford Ranger and I was wondering what can I use for struts or a pole system for popping up the top? If there is another forum more suited to this then please let me know.

Could probably use conduit for any poles, and gas struts would also be necessary unless you have another type of lift mechanism in mind.

Yes I thought about those but was wondering what system people came up with using them or something different
