Death Valley 2010. Wind Tunnel Edition.

Tim and Kelsey get lost..
Well, wind was a constant theme last week in DV. For those of us who sleep in their trucks... we were happy as a clam. However happy clams are. :victory:
The plus side is that instead of 100 degree temps we enjoyed highs in the 70's and 80's. We even enjoyed a couple of near freezing mornings.
All in all. A great trip.

The group was mixed with some 2wd folks without much experience as well as some very capable trucks. That made it fun because things we may not think are difficult became a project for some, albeit a fun one. It was also great seeing the exploring... "disease" take hold in some new folks.:smiley_drive: I pity their wallets if they are hooked.

Wouldn't cha know. Photobucket is not working today... So, no teaser pics to entice you to the blog in this thread until I get home tonight.

Day 1 pics are up at www.soaztim.com
I'll work on the rest tonight. :coffeedrink:

Wow. My girlfriend & I were in DV over at Panamint Springs just over 2 weeks ago, and we lucked out with ZERO wind overnight for 2 nights! Same temps too! 80-87º. We couldn't have asked for better weather! :sombrero:

Great pics Tim, DV turned out to be one of my favorite places on earth. I heard about the fire and saw pics right after but yours really tell how destructive it was. Glad I saw the cabin when I did.

Who's up for and Expo Thanksgiving in DV? :chowtime:

Heidi,
I'm thinking that sounds pretty good, but I may have to make another trip while it's nice and hot. Then escaping up to the cabins will feel even better! Plus, I hate crowds. :ylsmoke:

Dave,
It's just my old Canon G9. It takes such good pics! Now if I could only get the piece of dust off the sensor that I can see in every shot. :Wow1:

Cool, nice report.
If only AZ wasent 4500km from where i live...
Fly in! We'll rent dirt bikes and go! :bike_rider:

Nice, Tim. :victory: Great photo's.

Now when are you going to come up to Utah to explore :sombrero:.
It's in the plans. I just have to figure out how much time I'll need to explore everything on mountain bikes, dirt bikes and in the truck! hahaha. Well, maybe just one of those at a time. :coffeedrink:

Now I really have the itch to get out there, thanks Tim.
Let's do it! :smiley_drive:

Holy smokes, those are some AMAZING photos!!! :Wow1:

I'm glad I got to see Barker Ranch before the fire too. The other cabins in your day 1 trip are really nice! I wouldn't mind waking up in the morning and having a cup of coffee with that kind of view! Beautiful!!!

Great report Tim!

THANKS!! I don't consider myself a photographer, but it's really nice to hear. :victory:

I feel the same about Barker. So glad I was able to see it before. There are another dozen or so cabins I have my eye on to research and visit next time. :coffee:
