When I was earning my pilots license many years ago, we had to build up flying hours and experience by flying what they call "Cross Country" trips. One of the locations we flew to often was the Colorado river from the LA area. We owned a 172, so our max altitude 10K, but we flew way lower often for the fun of it.We made dozens of these trips.
On quite a few occasions, we saw planes on dry lakes and dirt roads in the middle of no where, many times with trucks near by. We always wondered what was happening! One time we saw an 18 wheeler and trailer on a dirt road that was at least 25+ miles from any paved road and we could see no buildings for at least that distance? One never knows what you find in the desert...
We landed on a few dry lakes and dirt roads our selves, but we did it to pee and stretch the legs, no anything else!
