WOW!

What a trip! HUGE Thanks to Verny and Jose for the invite, letting us tag along on their annual trip and guiding us through DV.

Couldnt have asked for anything more! This trip had everything you shoot for on a camping/exploring trip: Great people, great trail guides, great trails, great views, great food, perfect weather, great rig reliability and just great times in general!

Here is a Quick Write Up:

Friday
-We met @ the Lone Pine Mobil at noon on Friday.
-Verny, Mike and I drove up from Santa Ana and Met Jeb within minutes of arriving (signs of a good trip right there)
-We Entered via the 136
-Aired down at the entrance to Saline Valley Road
-Took Saline Valley Road to Hunter Mountain Road
-Checked out the amazing views from atop Hunter Mountain and Verny pointed out the various sites (racetrack, etc....) from the top
-Returned to Saline Valley Road to find a place to spend the night that his brother and sister could find us on in the middle of the night
-Found a great spot, set up camp, cooked some food and passed out early (been up and driving since 3am)

Saturdays Trip
-Woke up to see that Jose (4Runner) and Victor (80 series) found us in the middle of the night and setup camp
-Had some light breakfast
-While away from camp removing the previous nights liquids from my body i saw a white taco with a flip pac drive by.
-I knew it was vince, so as i closed up the truck to go catch him to say hi, i saw Uwe speed by as well. It took a little bit, but i finally caught Uwe to say hi! Vince was long gone
-Uwe radioed back to the other folks and we all met for a bit @ our camp to chat. It was great meeting new friends and catching up with old.
-Saline Valley Road to the Racetrack
-Stopped at the Racetrack for lunch :chowtime:
-Bumped into the EP guys again! :)
-We did Lippincott Mine Road to Tea Kettle Junction
-From Teakettle Junction we took a REALLY nice trail to the Top of White Top Mountain and setup camp @ 7450ft! Nice!
-On The way to the camp we stopped at the old "Hunter Camp" site and checked that out as well!
-Amazing 360 Degree Views from camp and the only rigs/humans for miles! :)
-Had a long night of cooking, eating, drinking, story telling, joking, chatting, and such.
-Temp dropped to about 25 at night, all was well though because we were all prepared for it
-Slept like a baby and woke up to an amazing sunrise (pics soon)

Sundays Trip
-Trekked down White Top Mountain to Racetrack Valley Road
-Took Racetrack Valley Road to the Ubehebe Crater
-Hung out and took pics at the crater (being careful not to be blown away by the VERY high winds!!!)
-Drove to Scottys Castle and got some pics and the usual soverneirs
-Aired Up The Tires
-Drove to the mouth of Titus Canyon, decide it was getting late fast and skipped it
-Fueled up in Stovepipe Wells and Headed home
-Had an uneventful ride home and made good time. Got home at 9pm or so
-Slept like a LOG! :D

Amazing trip and another huge thanks to Verny and Family for letting us tag along.

All 6 Toyotas performed flawlessly and we had great luck with no problems!
-(4) 80 Series
-(1) FJCruiser
-(1) 4Runner

I can see why people get addicted to this place! I cant wait to do it again!!

I was rolling down the trail enjoying the desert when all of a sudden, all I could see in my rear view mirrow was a bumper of an 80, lights flashing like mad. Road rage in DV? :yikes: First I thought Rob had lost it (he was behind me somewhere and also has a dark 80), then I realized that it was a different truck and I decided to let that crazy guy go by. That's when a smiling Kevin pulled up next to me.

Hey Kevin you got to get a Ham license and 2m :ylsmoke:

Cool to meet you guys out there!
