I wish he knew that....

You know the drill. He will.

......when he turns 30 :(

Were we any better sitting in the way back of the family truckster, listening to Dad read all the goofy roadside billboards, playing with Stretch Armstrong or Coleco football and drinking out of our Dukes of Hazard thermos while Mom made PB & J sandwiches on the dashboard?

Now that's hardcore history. ;)

Yep, I temporarily have these weak moments, wanting what I don't have. I've seen your trailer shots, does look better with 255s.

My 4Runner and Chaser are on 255s and I've been a 255 fan since about '98.

The heavy rain, then snow that fell this evening helped bring me back to normal.

Looks like you guy's had a great time. We were ahead of you guys by a day. I kept looking out for you but never caught you. The hot springs were wonderful at 7:00 am, after a cold night. We had a great time, but it was cold after the sun went down.

We took the 100 and it was very smooth, compared to the 62. The only problems we ran into were a pinched tailpipe and the cover on the roof-top-tent blowing apart coming back through mojave. Luckily my son saw it before the whole thing came apart. 70mph driving plus 40+ mph winds ended up being more than the cover could handle.

Glad you had fun and were safe. Cheers :safari-rig:

I think you rolled out the morning after the night we arrived. Were you camped at the upper springs?

Dan,

Very cool shots. Nice to see that you got the Mac thing down.
Pretty soon you'll be doing podcasts.

Yes indeedy, it was quite a chilly time at Death Valley! I used the hot springs about twice daily just to stay warm. It was a pleasure making new friends and we got to break in the Kamparoo on the famous Saline Valley washboards. After we left Furnace Creek campground, we headed to what we thought were warmer parts, Lake Havasu, but we got denied. The temps were nice but the wind chill made camping a tad chilly.

I'm glad I got to meet Joanne and check out her teardrop trailer. Sadly, we left before the dutch oven extravaganza took place on NY's eve. I hope it all went smoothly and I'm sure the food was delicious. Thanks again for the invite!

I'll post up pics once I dig the camera out of the 80!

Cheers,

AA

Hey Ali!!!

It was great meeting you guys and seeing the cool rigs. Seeing pictures is one thing, seeing them in person is a whole different experience. I was amazed how many expedition type vehicles I saw running around there.

New Year's day turned out to be the nicest day of the whole trip. It was the only morning when we didn't have ice in the dish pans when we got up.

I didn't do any of the neat off-roading that you guys did, but here's a couple of photos anyway.
