Defender 110 td5 - Overland Fit-out

Hey guys,

Long time reader, first time poster!

My wife and I live in Australia and own a 2005 Defender td5 110 which we've had for 10 years and travelled in extensively.

I've recently stripped the vehicle back to start our new fit-out and thought it might be worth posting some updates as I make my way through it.
We are hoping to ship the vehicle overseas next year to slowly start driving it around the world!

I have the truck booked in for the 'pop top' roof camper conversion in June which we're very excited about. We lived in the car for a full year travelling Australia and were definitely keen for a more 'live in' type arrangement for our next big trip.

I thought I'd list the vehicles specs as I personally find it interesting what the cars had in the different global markets.
  • 2005 td5 110
  • 270,000kms
  • Traction control/ABS
  • No sway bar model
  • Rear Harrop elocker
  • BF Goodrich KM3's - 255/85R16 (33")
  • Land Rover 'wolf' HD steel wheels
  • Mantec sparewheel swing
  • Factory Safari snorkel
  • Land Rover nudge bar
  • Stedi LED headlights and spotlights
  • 130L Long range fuel tank
  • Custom sun visor
  • Extended front seat rails
  • Frontrunner loadbars
  • GME UHF radio
  • Dual battery setup, optima yellow top with redarc isolator
Once I have the roof conversion completed I'll start working out the interior layout and storage, currently i've started building a bench seat and table/storage box type setup but it still needs some perfecting.

Outside of this the wish list is basically a larger fridge/freezer, new awning, likely a lithium setup with solar and a few other bits and pieces.

Anyway, It's great being apart of the forums and I look forward to updating this thread as I move along.

Cheers, Mike.

Excited to see the start of this!
I think you'll love the pop-top, even a little space out of the weather and bugs is a huge change for the better--you won't miss that little bit of being outside all the time.
Keep us posted, this looks like a fun project & plan-
