So my 2002 Disco just started doing something strange. I drove about 240 miles on the highway this weekend. At about 140 miles, the fuel gauge dropped to 0 and the reserve light came on. Then it popped up to about half a tank. About 5 minutes later it went to 0 with the light and the popped back up a few seconds later to 3/4 tank. It did it one more time and popped up to 1/8 of a tank. It finally settled back to the actual fuel level a little over a half a tank. It has done this a few more times since then. I am guessing it is something with the sending unit, but I don't get why is would start so randomly. Luckily I'm using the odo to keep track of fuel. Any ideas? Seems like the sender is working intermittently. I'm just trying to figure out where to start looking into this.
