DIY mattress cover for your trailer or rig

So I have decided to make a mattress cover for our memory foam mattress. I need it to be highly water resistant and bug proof. So i'm making it out of the same material I made my awning from and a pest proof mattress cover.

Here is the start.

This is the section that will get the zipper. This method allows the zipper to be hidden inside (if I do it right) lol.

After I sew the zipper on I will rip that center stitch out. It will make more sense tonight after I finish it.

I hope to have it completed in the next few days.

Use your double sided tape and baste the zipper upside down onto the inside of the zipper deck. You are following the centerline you sewed before.

Sew it in place near the outside edge of the zipper.

Then take your seam ripper and rip out the center seam following the centerline of the zipper. Be careful not to cut your fabric.

Once complete go back and brush out any remaining thread the ripper left.

Then you can see how your zipper turned out neatly hidden under the fabric.

Tomorrow I'll try and get the sides sewn together.
