Earthroamer on Ebay

I've always been impressed by the ER's outside 'rugged' look, but man what a prissy interior. Seems like I would break or scratch up everything in there with one trip into the back country!

It may "seem" to you, but since you don't know, why take the position of putting something down?
I've driven over 80,000 miles in two of them, spending as much time in the backcountry as fuel reserves and water tanks allow; after all that wear and tear, you couldn't really tell that they had been lived in.

Prissy, my ***!

I put 9,000 miles on mine this year (and it was driven around the world by the previous owner). The odometer will go over 50k tomorrow!

My family drove from Fort Leavenworth to the Gulf Coast and back, to Moab, UT and back, and back to the Mississippi River again. At the annual rally we drove the 4x4 trail in Arches National Park with many other ER owners. Lots of desert stripes from brush, some recovery operations too, but mostly great fun because everything works even under stress!

We're even doing some full-time living as our new home is finished - first time home buyer!

The ER is a great vehicle - engineered, designed, and crafted by a great group of professionals - it really meets the tests I've thrown its way. More importantly, I consider the ER designers and workers to be genuine friends - they're also friends to the environment who share the EXPO love of the outdoors and adventure...that's why it's a tough vehicle inside as well as out.

Besides...I carry a roll of duct tape, baling wire, and WD-40 too...what can't I fix with that? (ha ha). Really though, if you're heading into rough country, you have to secure your gear appropriately. Even an up-armor HMMWV has things that break inside...reminds me of a story about an MRAP getting stranded because of a $1 fuze failure...another thread...

ER's are tough enough for a trip to the backcountry (and in many countries' backcountry too).

That is halarious!

You bought an ER before you bought your first house? Wow, that is a new one on me. Glad that you like it.

JRHetts, I do not think that Younggunner was trying to insult the thing. Personally I think it looks very primped and permed as well. Gunner is just saying that it APEARS to be something that would potentially break easily, and I agree with that thought. Hey, nothing wrong with being wrong once in a while, never having had enough cash to even get IN one, much less drive one, what can you do besides use your best judgement and go from there. Not being a hater, just speaking from what we have experienced.

By the way, next time yall are in Utah, look me up, would love to go to Moab with yall. I have been in love with the jeep version since the first time I saw one. Very sad to see them go away...

Cheers
Brian

Looking at those pictures, I get a taste of that same slightly choked whiff of plastic and glue I get whenever I walk into a new RV. Ah, for the days of wood that isn't made in a machine and plastic countertops with the decency to admit that they're plastic rather than pretending to be marble...

Not singling out ER - I understand that wood and marble are heavy. I just absolutely hate the "RV look."

why do you think it's not wood and marble?

I know that the ER has granite and wood... I guess looking at my post it was a bit vague about my nostalgia for times from before I was born. It's just that these days even real stuff looks and feels fake to me for some reason. Wasn't specifically trashing ER - in fact, if I could stand the entire concept of an RV, I would gladly drive one. But the only RV that even remotely appeals to me is a Bluebird Wanderlodge :)

Okay guys, I started this thread to let everybody know about an EarthRoamer on Ebay. Not to discuss the merits of the interior, or the merits of buying a mobile living unit before one buys a house.

If somebody has a comment or a question about the EarthRoamer on Ebay please post up.
Lets move the other conversations about EarthRoamers in general some place else.
Thanks.

Didn't realize it was your sale thread. Sorry for my part, thought this was a discussion thread.
