I don't think I've ever longed for camping this badly. I think this may be an actual addiction with physical symptoms.

Booked a week of camping in June, and a weekend in late April. Not sure I can last that long.

halp.
Man I feel your pain. Two weeks go by and my physical symptoms kick in and I have to either go out for the quick desert trip and or medicate. I always leave my trailer plugged in with frig on so I can go at a moments notice.

What would Freud say?

I have a trip coming up soon. Looks like we will get snow. I cannot wait!
Snow camping is great. We did lots of that in the past! Enjoy the trip!

With a young kid and an old, arthritic dog, that's not really a practical option any more. Maybe some years down the line we'll revisit the idea!

When I installed my new blinds last year, the seller didn't have a size that would work for the main window in the dinette, but that changed sometime in the last few months. Got a new blind installed, and removed the valences on each side, which makes for a much cleaner look. Shame about all the holes Winnebago drilled for the original setup!

Got some solar upgrades in the works, too; will share when done!

In hand:
- Renogy 40a MPPT solar controller (good for 100v input)

En route:
- 2x Renogy 195W, 16BB, N-type panels
- 3x 3ft red/black MC4 cables
- Solar panel brackets
- Dicor RV sealant
- 6awg wiring for new run to battery + lugs + bus bars

My existing 190w Go-Power solar pannel is rated for 24.09 Voc, while the new Renogy panels are 37.44 Voc. That adds up to 98.97 Voc (in series), which is just a hair under the controller's 100v capacity, but I expect it'll still be just fine, especially since it's unlikely I'm ever going to see 100% Voc on any of these panels.

Wanted to double check my solar plans a little bit before I go too far down the rabbit hole... reached out to Winnebago customer support and unfortunately got nowhere productive (outside of a phone number for their engineering department), but I then thought I'd ask Grok.

Check out the question and depth of answer: https://grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtMg==_4a2c26fc-243a-4cc0-82a3-3017136ebc3c

Pretty incredible stuff. Of course, you need to have an understanding of the basics, what to input, how to phrase the question, what to ask for, etc., but even so, this is simply amazing technology for learning new concepts, revisiting forgotten knowledge, validating your work, etc.

That is the perfect example of the benefits of AI. Thank you for that example. I have been utilizing AI for similar problems and find it useful. I have the same trailer and although not as polished as your installations, I have learned a tremendous amount from your posts. Please continue.

Got a slumberpod for the crib?

When I camp with the kids I have a blow up mattress for my wife and I, two pack and plays and 2 slumber pods over the pack and plays. Lots of stuff to bring but fits like a glove.

I've actually never heard of the "slumberpod" product before. Just looked it up - definitely a cool thing to have. Not sure it would be practical in the trailer, but I'll have a closer look at it momentarily!

If your kid/s have a solid sleep schedule like mine do, I 100% recommend. Ours get packed any time we are gone for even a night. If they had passports they'd have 7 stamps lol

We got out for a few nights this weekend, which was a very welcome change from the daily grind.

Unfortunately my DC/DC charging system didn't function, so I spent half the first day trying to diagnose the problem, and had to go into town to pick up a multimeter (which will now live in the trailer).

The power to the whole system comes from my LX, and goes through two 80a circuit breakers. This is just how it worked out over the years of various mods to the LX. It looks like my 2nd (from the battery) breaker is the problem. The DC/DC charger pulls 40a, and it works for about a minute, but then the voltage on the output side of the breaker drops to 1v, even through the breaker remains closed. That breaker has spent about 5 to 5.5 years in the engine bay, so it looks like its time is up. It's not even technically necessary, so I'll be replacing it w/ a bus bar in the near future.

And of course, as is tradition, the furnace stopped heating at 3:30am on night #2. Yet another round of 5 minutes outside to clean the sail switch (which again had a tiny fluff of hair/fur/whatever on it), and it was working again. I'd really, really, REALLY love to meet the person that designed this mechanism and have a friendly little chat. Ideally, with an accessible back hoe somewhere nearby.

On the good news side of things, everything else worked as intended, and the now fully blacked out interior helps everyone sleep much better and much longer than before. All trailers should come with fully black-out blinds from the factory!

Those sail switches like to collect dust and fur. When we were full timing it year round I would routinely clean the sail switch in November and again in March before it quit working. It sucks when your furnace goes down at night in the middle of winter 🥶. For some reason the Winniebagel we had needed to have the sail switch cleaned even more often than the other trailers we lived in. The only thing I liked about our winnie was the floor plan, it was a great day when we traded it in for our ORV. Although the ORV is not perfect (no rv is) it’s day and night different in build quality.
Oh, and those black out blinds work great 👍
